Hare Krishna
I have difficulty in trying to meditate or
concentrate .
Please can you help?
Editor's reply:
Dear Gyanishwar Haridev Gareeb,
Hare Krishna!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Here are some
suggestions on how to meditate and
concentrate better.
Do your
meditation early in the morning before
sunrise. This time is the most auspicious
for spiritual progress because it is very
quiet and peaceful at this time, and the
mind is the most alert and rested (of
course, you should go to bed early enough to
get sufficient rest)
Have a special
place reserved just for your meditation... a
spiritually potent place with pictures of
Radha and Krishna, the spiritual master and
other saintly personalities.
According to
the Vedas, the Kali Santarana Upanishad, of
all the forms of meditation in this Age of
Quarrel and Hypocrisy, the best is the
chanting of the Holy Names of the Lord,
specifically the Maha Mantra
Hare Krishna
Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare
Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
By the regular
recitation of this mantra, out loud or
silently, the mind becomes peaceful and
serene.
Is this
helpful?
Sincerely,
Prema Bhakti
dasa Adhikari,

What is meaning of love in world perspective
and Indian perspective (As per Indian
Vedanta Culture)?
Editor's reply:
Dear Shailesh
Sharma,
Hare Krishna,
There are 2
kinds of love, material and spiritual.
Love in the
material world is based on the idea that we
are the body, and therefore love means to
care for and please the body and the senses,
either our own body or the body of our
family and loved ones. This love is
temporary and not very satisfying.
Love in the
spiritual world is based on the idea that we
are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of
the Supreme Spirit. By awakening our
spiritual eternal love for the Supreme Soul
and all the other eternal souls, we
experience an eternally growing sense of
well-being and happiness.
In this Age of
Quarrel, Kali Yuga, the recommended method
of awakening our spiritual love is Hari
Nama, chanting the Names of God,
specifically the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra.
Hare Krishna
Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare
Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
If you are
interested, I can send you the different
shlokas from the Vedas that confirm these
statements.
Sincerely,
Prema Bhakti
dasa Adhikari

HARI OM, I WOULD LIKE YOU YO GIVE ME ME A
BRIEF EXPLAINAION ON THE TOPIC PRAYER OR HOW
SHOULD A HINDU .
Editor's reply:
Dear Jamel
Baroudy,
Hare Krishna!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
The offering
of prayers is described by great authorities
in Vedic wisdom as being one of the nine
processes of devotional service, beginning
with hearing, chanting, remembering topics
about Lord Krishna, the Supreme Personality
of Godhead.
There are many
many prayers composed by the saintly
devotees of the Lord, and one should learn
them and recite them regularly.
Of course, the
main prayer that is recommended in the
scriptures for this age of Kali, is the Hare
Krishna Maha Mantra, or the great chant for
deliverance:
Hare Krishna,
Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama,
Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare
It is said
that there is no hard and fast rule for
chanting this prayer, either out loud or
softly, together with many people or alone,
in private or in public, and at any time of
the day or night. Hare refers to the
Spiritual Energy of God, and Krishna and
Rama are different names of God in the
Sanskrit language. The prayer simply means
"O Energy of God, O God, please engage me in
Your service."
Besides this,
there are thousands of powerful prayers to
the Lord and His devotees to obtain
spiritual benedictions. The Bhagavad-gita,
the Srimad Bhagavatam and the
Caitanya-Caritamrita are full of such
superexcellent prayers.
Sincerely,
Prema Bhakti
dasa Adhikari

I wish to pour out my many thanks to you blessed souls and especially
to our wonderful teacher Adhikari. I have been a lost soul for much time
and continue to be one. It is such a struggle to avoid all of the
pitfalls this world puts in our way. Money, job, family worries can consume
us. I have a real problem with guilt over past mistakes. These feelings
are so powerful as to cloud over all real sight. Thank you for the daily
thoughts to help push me back to proper thoughts. Bless you all for
your devotion and your love for us all out here, struggling to love the
Lord properly.

I have just now found your web-site and it looks very nice; I would
like to ask if you have any online correspondence courses as, being an
uninitiated devotee and beginning to read Srimad Bhagavatam from the
beginning (hopefully to the end) I am sure there will be many questions (I
hope not too foolish) which I may wish to ask...Can you tell me how much
the course will cost, etc. Please contact me at your convenience; I
don't know how I can be of service to Guru and Gauranga, as I don't live
in a temple and have little face-to-face contact with the devotees of
Caitanya Mahaprabhu, all glories to them and Srila Prabhupada! Thank
you and Hare Krsna!

I have enjoyed your e-mails for a long time now and you have answered
several questions for me. I have been looking for a Sanskrit-English
dictionary that has Sanskrit words in a phonetic spelling. All the
dictionaries I have found have the Sanskrit in written Sanskrit form. Do
you know where I can find one, I want to be able to look up words like
"namo", "bhagavate", etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hare Krsna,
Bhakta Michael
Editor:
I don't think they are yet publishing a Sanskrit-English
dictionary that uses roman transliteration of the Sanskrit words. What I
do when I want to look up the meaning of a word is to turn to my copy of
Vedabase and do a query on the Sanskrit word and I see all the ways the
word is used in Srila Prabhupada's books. Do you have a copy of the
Bhaktivedanta Vedabase? It is available at the Bhaktivedanta Archives...http://www.vedabase.com/
or you can order it directly from Srila Sankarshan Gurudeva's online
store at

Resp Adhikariji,
I am Veerendra Ekbote from Mumbai, India. I have been enlisted for
"Thought for the day" since Jan, 2005 and is getting lot of nice emails from
your side. I have a question because once I had a question which I had
emailed on your question email address but I think u didn't receive it.
My question - Is Vishnu consciousness and Krishna consciousness are
on
the same level because many Indians consider Krishna as 8th
incarnation of Vishnu but you preach that Krishna is above Vishnu. People
consider Krishna as a incarnation of Vishnu but you preach Krishna is unborn. I
know Krishna is eternally existing but for the general public I need
this clarification.
